What is it?

The AAL – Symmetrical Linear Power Supply is a low-noise linear PSU PCB based on the LM317 / LM337 and designed with particular attention to signal integrity, robustness and proven analog design practices.

Designed for audio and sensitive analog projects requiring a cleaner, quieter and more reliable supply than generic switching modules.

Included

  • Fully or partially assembled PCB (depending on selected version)
  • Female PCB connectors for input and output connections

Transformer not included

Features

  • Symmetrical AC input (dual secondary transformer)
  • Supported AC input range: 2×9V to 2×18V AC
  • Typical regulated output voltages: ±9V / ±12V / ±15V / ±18V
  • Adjustable depending on regulator resistor configuration

Maximum output current

Maximum current depends on:

  • Transformer used
  • Thermal dissipation and heatsinking of regulators

Example: up to approximately 1.34A continuous output current with appropriate cooling.

Why did you make it?

Many DIY audio and analog projects deserve something better than noisy generic PSU modules.

The AAL – Symmetrical Linear Power Supply is an ideal companion for DIY preamps, headphone amplifiers and demanding analog audio projects.

This board was designed to provide a robust, low-noise and audio-friendly linear power supply suitable for demanding analog circuits.

Typical Applications

  • Audio preamps
  • Headphone amplifiers
  • DAC analog stages
  • Analog signal processing
  • Sensitive analog electronics projects

What makes it special?

  • Low-noise linear topology (LM317 / LM337)
  • Regulated symmetrical outputs
  • Centralized star-ground (0V) layout to reduce ground loop issues
  • HF noise suppression network on the 0V reference
  • Oversized rectification and filtering for better load stability
  • Carefully selected and positioned decoupling capacitors for regulator stability
  • Fast protection diodes around regulators
  • PCB routing optimized for analog performance

Skill level: Beginner to experienced DIYers

Assembly notes

Basic through-hole soldering skills are recommended.

If you choose the DIY version and are unsure about the final voltage configuration, the regulator-setting resistors can be left unassembled and supplied separately for flexibility.

Basic understanding of linear power supplies is recommended.

Why this price?

Built using carefully selected high-quality components (Wima, Vishay, Panasonic, KEMET, STMicroelectronics, etc.) chosen for performance, reliability and long-term durability.

All parts are sourced from reputable suppliers to ensure quality and traceability.
