Ball and Beam is a fully assembled and tested ball and beam PID control trainer built around an authentic Arduino UNO Rev3. It measures the position of a ping-pong ball with a SHARP GP2Y0A21 distance sensor and uses a TOWERPRO MG996R servo to control the beam.
A 32-pixel Neopixel strip shows the two setpoints and the measured ball position in real time. The included 20x4 LCD, custom 4x4 keypad and rotary encoder let you tune Kp, Ki, Kd and change setpoints directly on the device, with no computer required. You can even change the setpoint in real time and watch the system respond.
This version ships assembled and tested before dispatch. A 5V 2A power supply is included. It is designed for hands-on learning and demonstration of PID control, feedback, tuning and closed-loop behavior in the classic ball and beam system.
