Do you need a simple little utility module, are you prototyping something more complex? Does it work on the breadboard but you want it in your rack? Have you been fucking around and is it time to find out?
Then maybe the Proton board is for you! The Proton board is a development / diy board that lets you easily build your own Quickswap compatible modules for the AE modular system.
The proton boards comes with nylon mounting spacers, and screws. No other hardware is included.
The proton boards contains a breadboard style 2.5mm hole grid array. The pairs of holes can easily be split by severing the trace between them on the back if needed. The two power strips are not by default connected to the +5V and GND.
Mounting points to fit both RK09 style potentiometers and PJ-301M style 3.5mm jacks (both pcb and panel mount style fits). The 1U model comes with two of these slots and the 2U version with four.
It also comes with an SMD adapter for 2xSOT-23 or SOIC-16 footprints allowing you to use experiment with SMD components. Older revision pictured on the right showing it fitting a SOT-23 transistor, holes are better spaced on the for sale revision. The 1U version comes with one such adapter (flipped 90 for space reasons ) and the 2U version has two such adapters.
Here are some example projects of mine on older versioThe proton boards comes with nylon mounting spacers, and screws. No other hardware is included. ns of the Proton boards. From left to right we have a mono output stage a with a little "spatial mixer", next is a plain buffer, then there is a prototype for a little divide down organ and furthest to the right there is a little 2CV + Gate input adapter.
