This is the flexible Gitzian electronics kit for builders who already have a supported display, want to source one themselves, or want to experiment with different supported display configurations.
For a ready-matched kit with display included, please also check my Gitzian display kits (= decoder kit + display).
Supported display modules may also be available from other suppliers. Buying hardware through my shop directly supports continued Gitzian development, new display support, documentation, and more reference designs — but the project is also meant to stay flexible for builders who already have parts on hand.
Current supported display targets:
| Display model | Resolution |
|---|---|
| TL040HDS30CT1-B1620A | 720x720 |
| TL040HDS20CT-B1502A | 720x720 |
| TL021WVC02CT-B1323B | 480x480 |
| TL032FWV01CT-I1440A | 320x820 |
The supported display list is expanding over time. Please check the current compatibility list before ordering.
Gitzian is a DIY/hackable display streaming system for small displays.
The host renders the image, the Raspberry Pi handles the stream, and the Gitzian decoder drives the display.
For Raspberry Pi streaming setups, the Raspberry Pi acts as the display-side client and connects to the Gitzian hardware through the included HAT. The display is driven by the Gitzian decoder pipeline.
Use it for compact remote desktops, embedded UI experiments, dashboards, control panels, small game-display experiments, or custom hardware projects.
The decoder kit uses user-selectable display firmware.
Choose the firmware for your supported display from Gitzian Downloads and flash it with a Raspberry Pi. The flashing process is documented in the HOW-TO guide at https://gitzian.com.
The Gitzian software is available from the same downloads area and is free to use for the normal setup.
This makes the decoder kit useful for builders who already have a display, source displays themselves, or want to try different supported display configurations.
Recommended Raspberry Pi client models: Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W, Raspberry Pi 2, Raspberry Pi 3, Raspberry Pi 4, Raspberry Pi 5.
The normal Gitzian software is free and will remain free.
Some project parts are open source. The Raspberry Pi HAT and display bridge KiCad files are provided as reference designs for builders who want to modify or replace parts of the setup.
Downloads, firmware files, software links, and KiCad reference files are available here:
Buying the hardware supports continued development, new display support, documentation, and more reference designs.
Low-power, low-latency, network/internet-capable display streaming in a tiny hackable hardware stack for builders.
If you are not sure whether your setup will run, contact me before ordering and tell me what you are planning.
Useful details are the display model, Raspberry Pi model, host operating system, planned setup, intended use case, and any mechanical or connector constraints.
I may be able to help. If several builders need the same feature, display, or integration path, I will consider adding it to the project roadmap.
Hi, I am Marco. I am the sole indie software and hardware developer behind Gitzian Electronics e.U. I designed the boards and software, and each part is tested by me before shipping.
