What is it?

The GP Pico Breakout Board is a versatile and user-friendly breakout board designed for the Raspberry Pi Pico. It allows you to easily access the Pico's pins and features, making it an excellent choice for various projects, including game controllers using the GP2040-CE firmware. With its thoughtful design, this board is perfect for both beginners and experienced makers looking to expand their Pico projects.

Why did I make it?

This board is an evolution of the Pico Advanced Breakout Board created by TheTrain, which is based on the Pico Fighting Board by FeralAI. My main goal when developing the GP Pico Breakout Board was to enhance usability by adding a JST PH 2.0 connector for USB Direct and incorporating debug and UART pins. As I worked on the design, I found opportunities to make additional improvements, such as replacing some JST PH 2.00mm connectors with KF350 3.5mm screw terminals, renaming and adding labels for clarity, and including a power LED indicator.

What makes it special?

What sets the GP Pico Breakout Board apart is its compatibility with the standard Pico version of the GP2040-CE firmware, which is reflected in the button labels on the pins. Additionally, it serves as a fantastic breakout board for other Pico projects, offering screw terminals for easy access to Pico pins, exposed USB pins, and a JST connector for addressable RGB LEDs. Whether you're building a game controller or exploring other creative applications, this board provides the flexibility and functionality you need.

Warning

Please note that this product is sold as a kit and requires assembly. It is essential to have good soldering skills, particularly when working with small SMD (Surface Mount Device) components. If you are not comfortable with soldering or lack experience in assembling electronic kits, I recommend seeking assistance or considering a different product. Proper assembly is crucial for the functionality and safety of the final product. Ensure you have the necessary tools and a suitable workspace before starting the assembly process. Happy building!
