Adorn your goddess in marble and gold!

This 3D-printed case is for the Idun cartridge for the Commodore 128 (and 64), available from the developer here on Tindie.

The enclosure is fashioned from light-brown marble plastic and trimmed with metallic gold-colored parts. The cartridge's Raspberry Pi (Zero 2/2W) module rises above the top of the case, giving the cartridge an enhanced three-dimensional look as well as a bit of ventilation. The Pi itself is covered by a separate nameplate featuring Idun's on-screen startup logo and a light pipe providing visibility to the activity LED.

Please note that the Pi nameplate is designed to accommodate low-profile GPIO connector pin header through-hole "tails" protruding up to 0.5mm out of the Pi Zero board. If yours are longer, please trim them down or request a taller nameplate when ordering.

Features

  • Power jumper access
  • Mode switch extension for easier access
  • Gold-colored (brass) case fasteners
  • Threaded inserts for easy closure and removal
  • Visibility to the Pi activity LED
  • Access to all Idun controls and ports
  • Space for the Idun image label sticker (from the Idun creator, not included)

What's included

  • Main enclosure with board support posts preinstalled
  • Brass case closure screws
  • Gold-colored mode switch extender
  • Pi Zero support piece
  • Pi Zero nameplate cover with light pipe
  • Power jumper pin header
  • Gold (painted) power jumper
  • Power jumper case hole cover
  • Allen wrench (hex key)

Installation

If the Pi Zero is not yet installed on the Idun board, it is suggested to install the case (all parts) first and then connect the Pi to Idun.

  • Remove the microSD card from the Raspberry Pi Zero.
  • (Optional) Solder the two-pin header at JP1 on the Idun cartridge board.
  • Place Idun in the lower case half, with the support posts (screws) inserted through the holes in the Idun board.
  • Gently lift the back end of the Pi Zero to install the gray support piece on top of the Idun button body. (It may be white or black instead, and looks a bit like a funny little chair.)
  • Place the nameplate on the Pi Zero, inserting its three pegs into the Pi's mounting holes.
  • Install the clear light pipe piece under the Pi Zero in the corner corresponding to the hole in the nameplate, next to the USB port. The straight edge faces inward toward the Pi's flat-cable connector, with the clear peg protruding through the Pi and into the nameplate.
  • Press the rectangular switch extension onto the mode switch lever.
  • Install the upper case half. It is easiest to angle the back end down and into position first, then rotate the body down into position. Temporarily lifting the back end of the Pi Zero a little can also provide additional clearance.
    • The assembly can also be performed upside-down in reverse order: With the upper case half in hand, place Idun with the Pi Zero through the opening. Then place the lower case half in position, being careful to align and insert the support posts into the Idun board's holes.
    • Patience is key; take your time.
  • Use the included allen wrench (hex key) to install the two brass screws into the side tabs.
  • Reinstall the microSD card in the Raspberry Pi Zero.
  • (Optional) If the power jumper is not used, the hole cover can be inserted. Note that the cover is not designed to be removed without opening the case, so its use is suggested only if the jumper will not be used (or never changed).

Enjoy!

If using the power jumper, please be sure to read about Idun power usage. In particular, do not connect a USB power supply and enable the jumper concurrently.
