The MatrixMix 4x4 is a passive 4x4 matrix audio mixer that can be daisy-chained.

When playing around with DIY synthesizers, I realized I needed a mixer to combine all the sounds together, and also integrate some effect loops. Especially for those effects, a matrix mixer comes in handy. So I designed one.

Features

The MatrixMix 4x4 has 4 mono inputs and 4 mono outputs. Its 16 potentiometers allow you to route each input to each output. But it has some specialties:

• Input & output jacks are 3.5mm stereo jacks. You can choose to ignore the second channel, mix both channels together, or route it separately, e.g. if you're using it for sync/clock signaling.
• 4 inputs are nice, but usually not enough. So you can connect multiple MatrixMix 4x4 together using its two extension ports, and scale it to 8x4, 12x4 etc. Sync/Clock signals are passed along as well.

Options

• PCB only: This is just the PCB, no other components with it. You can follow our parts suggestions, or use whatever potentiometer and resistor values you like.
• Kit: This includes all parts to make a working MatrixMix mixer, like all potentiometers (50kΩ log), audio jacks and other auxiliary parts you might need.
• Case (coming soon): In addition to the regular kit option, you can also get this lasercut case similar to the pink one in the pictures. It'll include all the necessary mounting hardware. We're still optimizing this a bit, so we cannot offer it now, but you can find the CAD files of the current status in our Design Files already.
