What is it?

This is a Mockingboard compatible sound card clone for Apple II computers.

The Mockingboard is one of the most iconic expansion cards ever created for the Apple II. It adds advanced sound capabilities to the Apple II by using two AY-3-8910 programmable sound generators, providing stereo audio with up to 6 independent voices.

This reproduction is designed for use with Apple II, Apple IIe and other Mockingboard-compatible systems. It is compatible with many classic games, demos, and software supporting Mockingboard audio.

This version includes the sound generation hardware only. Speech synthesis chips are not included, as this card does not provide the optional speech functionality found on some original Mockingboard models.

Each board is hand assembled, tested, and ready to use.

Why did i make it?

I made this card because original Mockingboard boards have become difficult to find and expensive for Apple II enthusiasts.

My goal was to recreate this legendary sound card and make it accessible to the retro computing community, allowing more people to experience the impressive audio capabilities that were available on the Apple II during the 1980s.

This project is also a way to preserve and share vintage computer history by creating reliable new hardware compatible with original systems.
