Custom Motorcycle Gear Indicator for older Bikes. Can easily be connected to any Bike, needs just the neutral signal.
What is it?
Custom Gear Indicator based on my newest H.E.D.S. PCB.
Each input has a protection diode for reverse power protection, including the 12V input.
It now comes with the 1.3" IPS color display with 240x240 pixels. It is perfectly viewable in sunlight. Due to the color display any color logo will be converted into single bitmaps and displayed as you can see in the video below, where the BMW logo consists of 5 individual bitmaps.
Why did you make it?
Because I wanted to add a Gear Indicator to my Motorcycle and thought that maybe others are interested in it too.
What makes it special?
It can be used on any Motorcycle that has no Indicator from factory like many older Bikes. It can be adapted to any gear number. Just leave a comment when ordering. The Indicator has 5 connections:
- 12 Volt positive
- Ground
- 12 Volt in from Neutral Switch
- Up-shift signal from reed or micro switch
- Down-shift signal also from reed or micro switch
The reed switches are triggered by a magnet connected to the gear shift lever. Or you can mount waterproof micro switches with levers. After turning on Ignition and when the neutral is not selected you will get the message to Select Neutral. If you have any other questions please let me know.
Update: I can also make this Gear display for newer bikes where a signal is present for each gear the motorcycle is in. Again anything from 2 gears up to 8 gears is possible. It can even be used in a car if you like and can be used with stick shift and automatic transmissions. In that case it has individual inputs for each gear as shown in the video. It has also a finished enclosure that can be put into a waterproof GoPro Session case for easy mounting on a bike and weather protection.
Optionally you can get it with a 3K Twill Weave Carbon Fiber front in either glossy or matt.
