USBridge-KVM 2.0 (STANDARD Edition)

USBridge-KVM 2.0 STANDARD is a complete, plug-and-play desktop KVM kit built for direct infrastructure management and system debugging at Layer 0—housed in a custom enclosure with an interactive status display and pre-flashed OS onboard.

The device provides system administrators with absolute hardware control while completely bypassing the target OS to ensure strict physical isolation. It offers instant, out-of-band server access with ultra-low-latency video streaming, as well as support for automated script execution and external AI agent integration for routine, low-level management tasks.

⚠️ Note on Power Control: The ATX power management board is not included in the Standard Edition. If you require direct hardware Power/Reset jumper wiring, check out the USBridge KVM 2.0 FULL Edition.

  • Full KVM OS License (Lifetime, 100% Free & Open Source)

BIOS-in-Terminal: Offline OCR & Hardware-Level AI Automation

The BIOS-in-Terminal engine intercepts the raw HDMI signal at the hardware level. Using an on-board processing chip and local text recognition (OCR) algorithms, the device converts the graphical BIOS and pre-boot environment into an interactive text stream delivered directly to your terminal via SSH—completely offline, with no cloud dependencies.

  • Interactive Text BIOS over SSH: Transforms the graphical pre-boot screen into a real-time text stream. You can connect to the KVM via a standard SSH session and configure the BIOS directly within your native terminal. Because the output is pure text, you can easily highlight and copy error codes or serial numbers, even over high-latency or unstable network connections.
  • AI Agent Integration via MCP Protocol: Converting the UI into structured text enables autonomous machine management via large language models. Through the Model Context Protocol (MCP), you can attach AI agents (such as Claude) directly to the KVM. The AI can read the terminal screen, navigate through BIOS menus, and perform autonomous hardware diagnostics.
  • Pixel-Independent Automation Scripts: An automation engine is built directly into the client app, allowing you to write and run reliable Python (Starlark) scripts. Instead of relying on fragile pixel-matching algorithms, the system evaluates the recognized text stream—enabling scripts to wait for specific error strings or menu headers before sending keystrokes.

Low-Latency Streaming via Sunshine / Moonlight Integration

Forget about sluggish, "jelly-like" cursor movement, choppy frame rates, and input lag. USBridge-KVM 2.0 features native, embedded integration with the Moonlight streaming protocol.

The entire video capture and encoding pipeline is optimized at the hardware level to push latency down to an imperceptible minimum. You get an immediate, direct-connection feel with smooth mouse tracking and instant keystroke execution:

  • 720p Resolution: Ultra-low latency of 25–50 ms.
  • 1080p Resolution: Stable, low latency of 50–75 ms.
  • Zero-Config Mesh VPN: These benchmarks are achieved even when routing traffic remotely over secure Tailscale networks.

The end-to-end response time is so fast that the throughput and input precision allow for comfortable gameplay in dynamic platformers—making everyday server management and remote GUI navigation feel entirely seamless.

Drive Emulation & Immutable Snapshots (Storage & Security)

Virtual Media: Complete Replacement for Bootable USB Drives

No more physically plugging USB drives into rack servers or setting up complex PXE boot infrastructure. Hardware-level drive emulation allows you to mount virtual disk images directly from your local computer—whether it is a clean installation ISO or a fully configured operating system image in VDI or VMDK formats.

The target server instantly recognizes the mounted image as a standard physical hard drive and boots from it without requiring file conversions or lengthy flashing processes. High-speed LPDDR4X caching offsets network delays during data transfer, while a dedicated Read-Write Overlay mode redirects all new session writes to a separate layer, keeping your master image completely untouched.

Hardware Ransomware Protection & Btrfs Snapshots

The core design of the immutable snapshot engine ensures that your user data and system states cannot be encrypted, overwritten, or deleted externally. When changes occur, the system never overwrites the original data files—it only records the delta (change differential) and instantly freezes the new data state as read-only.

Thanks to strict hardware isolation, even if malware or an attacker gains full root privileges on the remote target server, they physically cannot overwrite or delete the backups and snapshots stored on the KVM. Built on the open Btrfs filesystem, there is zero vendor lock-in: all data backups and snapshots can be mounted and read on any standard Linux system without requiring proprietary USBridge software.

Unified Ecosystem: USBridge-Remote

Infrastructure management shouldn’t feel like juggling a dozen disconnected utilities. To solve this, I created USBridge-Remote—a 100% Open Source, cross-platform application (Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS) that unifies your entire network and KVM management under a single interface.

Key Features & Hybrid Architecture

  • Layer 0 Hardware Access: Direct connection to USBridge-KVM modules for remote disk ISO/VDI mounting, Btrfs snapshot management, and out-of-band recovery for unresponsive servers before the OS loads.
  • Software-Level Remote Desktop: Native agent integration with zero-configuration remote access that works out-of-the-box on modern Wayland display servers.
  • Embedded Moonlight Protocol: High-performance desktop streaming capable of up to 240 FPS with ultra-low latency.
  • Seamless Cross-Platform Clipboard: Instant two-way synchronization for text, file transfers, and image copying directly between host and target machines inside the agent.
  • Zero Subscriptions & Zero Registrations: Completely self-hosted architecture with no vendor lock-in, commercial SaaS fees, or third-party cloud registration required.
