What is it?

ESP32 based Wi-Fi Pixel Controller to drive adressable LED strips like Neopixel/SK6812/WS2801/WS2815/etc using WLED.

  • ESP32 microcontroller
  • up to four lanes á 1000 LED, see https://kno.wled.ge/features/multi-strip/
  • usable for 5V, 12V and 24V strips without additional dc-dc converters or configuration
  • configurable Button (IO15), default function on/off, see https://kno.wled.ge/features/macros/#buttons
  • factory reset thanks to WLED 0.13, hold the Button more than 10s.
  • more GPIO of the ESP32 broken out so solder pads on the rear of the PCB
  • Reverse polarity protection
  • Self-programmable if required, flash/reset button available on board
  • Detailed manual and wiring diagram
  • Compact design in small housing (72 x 30 x 16mm)
  • Open-source hardware (CC-BY-NC-SA 4.0)
  • Made in Germany
  • CE, RoHS, WEEE

For hookup see the wiring examples:

The board comes preflashed with the current version of WLED, but can be used with any firmware you like, as we've added a flash and reset button for easy flashing.

It can be used with nearly every type of adressable led strips: WS2812B, WS2813, SK6812, APA102, WS2801, LPD8806, TM1814, WS2811, WS2815, GS8208.

Please read the Adafruit Neopixel Uberguide on how to work with Neopixels.

Why did you make it?

Based on the LoxPixel-idea from Dennis (www.unser-smartes-zuhause.de) we've discussed a board layout and in the beginning developed our own software based in Dennis' initial code. In the end we've settled to expand the absolutely astonishing WLED project with the needed features for Loxone. In Version 0.11 WLED can now understand Loxone values.

What makes it special?

Of course that it's usable for 5V, 12V and 24V installations without any external components or configuration. You even have a reverse polarity protection as well as a decent terminal for wiring. Also we put quite some work in the instructions on how to get up and running.

  • usable for 5V, 12V and 24V installations
  • open source, using ESP-WROOM-32E 4MB
  • up to four lanes á 1000 LED
  • real 74AHCT125D level shifter
  • compact (72x30x16mm)
  • reverse polarity protection
  • wiring through srew-plug terminal
  • detailed instructions
  • could be easily (re-)programmed
