The design of these computers is described on various web portals (Facebook, GitHub, Hackster.io, etc.).

A distinctive feature of the MBC3 is the number of application programs it supports. Not only do CP/M 2.2 and CP/M 3 run on the MBC3, but also QP/M and UCSD Pascal, and of course, common programming languages like Turbo Pascal, Forth, and BASIC. All of these programs are identical to the software for the Z80-MBC2 and are contained on the included microSD card.

Compared to the MBC2, the MBC3 is equipped with a newer ATmega4809, which is 25% faster and also offers the following features:

  • a buzzer on the board;
  • an external analog input or potentiometer;
  • a simplified circuit that eliminates the need for a quartz crystal and external "glue logic."

The kit contains all components, the printed circuit board (PCB), and connectors, including the following optional components:

  • FT232RL USB - TTL Serial Adapter Module
  • SD Card Module with a 512MB micro SD card
  • DS3231 Real-Time Clock Module
  • PCF8574 Digital I/O Expansion IC
