A low-cost powerhouse for the right project.

For small scale lighting projects, this is a really good product at a great price point. If you had to put together something similar on your own (USB-C, battery and charging support, a 16 pixel NeoPixel ring), you'd be really hard pressed to beat the round carrier on price and ease of use.
The lights are nice and bright, and with the right material to diffuse the light, the round carrier can light up a surprising volume for its size. I've been pleased using it with flexible fresnel lenses and fine mesh bags, you can really spread the glow around.
It's not hollow in the middle, so things like lighted glasses are not a good fit for this project. But it's perfect for things like a desktop infinite mirror, iron man cosplay, small ambient lights, and for the price the biggest problem is avoiding the temptation to add two or three extra to your cart.

Meets my requirements

The BBQ20 arrived within three days and works fine via USB.
The other connections I did not test so far.
The track pad works also as expected.

I bought these for a keyboard project where I wanted a 32-bit MCU (that's in stock) in a tight footprint and with an USB-C connector that I can place myself - so the pico was out.
In my opinion this is a great form-factor and the Module/Carrier approach makes for a very useful module that can be used for prototyping but is also a great fit for "real products" where you wouldn't want space wasted on header pins, unused USB connectors and so on.
Unfortunately the first (untracked letter) shipment got lost, but I would blame that on my local post, given their track record. Arturo was very responsive and helped to figure out a solution immediately. I'll definitely continue using this module in my project and keep my eyes out for other Solder Party products in the future :)
