ESP32-C5 Dual Isolated CAN FD Development & Logging Board [First Batch] The ultimate, galvanically isolated dual-channel CAN FD development board powered by the ESP32-C5. Built for industrial automation, robotics, custom bridges, and advanced bus logging. Dimensions 80mmx95mmx30mm(with sockets)
Overview Welcome to the First Batch release of this high-reliability, dual-channel CAN development board. Designed from the ground up for robustness and safety, this board bridges the gap between powerful wireless-enabled microcontrollers and heavy-duty wired communication buses.
At its heart lies the ESP32-C5 (16MB Flash, 8MB PSRAM), bringing modern connectivity and processing power. Whether you are building a smart CAN bridge, a standalone multi-channel bus logger, or a complex industrial control node, this board provides the hardware foundation you need without compromising on safety.
Key Hardware Features Dual Independent CAN & CAN FD Channels (Up to 5 Mbps): Fully supports both standard classical CAN and high-speed CAN FD protocols up to 5 Mbps. Powered by high-performance TI ISO1044DBR galvanically isolated CAN transceivers with separate DC-DC converters for each channel, complete with on-board Common Mode Chokes to drastically reduce electromagnetic interference and ensure signal integrity in noisy environments.
Robust Bus Protection: Equipped with dedicated high-speed CAN transient/ESD protection (TVS diodes) on both lines to safeguard against voltage spikes and electrostatic discharges.
Powered by ESP32-C5 (16R8): Equipped with 16MB Flash and 8MB PSRAM, providing ample headroom for complex firmware, buffering, and logging tasks.
Flexible Bus Termination: On-board symmetrical 120-ohm termination resistors that can be easily toggled on/off using dedicated DIP switches for each channel.
Robust Power Protection: Protected against common deployment mistakes with an on-board 1.1A resettable fuse and a B340 Schottky diode for reverse polarity protection.
User Interface & Expansion:
PCF8574 I/O expander managing a 4-position DIP switch for custom user inputs/configuration. 4x User LEDs for visual status indication, debugging, or state feedback. Optional OLED Display Support: Easily plug in a compatible OLED display (such as SSD1306) for real-time telemetry, status readouts, or menu navigation right on the device.
Data Logging & Real-Time Clock:
MicroSD Card Slot ready for high-speed data logging, configuration files, or firmware updates. DS3231 High-Precision RTC (Real-Time Clock) with battery backup for accurate timestamping on your log files.
Modern Connectivity: USB-C interface for power, programming, and serial monitoring. Secure, reliable screw terminals for easy CAN bus and power hookups.
Suggested Use Cases Custom CAN / CAN FD Bridges: Route, filter, or translate messages between two independent networks. Standalone Bus Loggers: Capture high-speed traffic directly to a MicroSD card with hardware timestamps from the on-board RTC and live status on an optional OLED screen. Industrial IoT & Automation Nodes: Integrate legacy or modern CAN peripherals into a smart wireless ecosystem. Robotics & Complex Test Benches: Connect multiple isolated sub-networks safely. ⚠️ Important Notice & Disclaimer Development Board / Evaluation Only: This product is sold strictly as an open-architecture development and evaluation board intended for prototyping, educational, and experimental use by qualified developers. It is not an end-user consumer product and does not carry mass-market or industry-specific regulatory certifications (such as CE, FCC, or automotive safety certifications). Limitation of Liability: The manufacturer/seller accepts no responsibility or liability whatsoever for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damage, data loss, or hardware failure caused to external equipment, other circuitry, property, or persons resulting from the use, misuse, incorrect wiring, or integration of this device.
