The third module to be added to the wonkystuff MIDI range is an 8-output MIDI to Trigger converter. It's actually a MIDI-Gate converter, but the main use for this was to trigger the wonkystuff µDrums! For an overview of the wonkystuff MIDI modules, I have written an overview article.

The mtr/8 maps note on/off messages of 8 consecutive MIDI notes to each of it's outputs.

The module consumes MIDI signals from any of the MIDI channel outputs of the mb/1.

PLEASE NOTE: This module requires the mb/1 module in order to function correctly - it does not directly connect to MIDI devices!

  • Inputs:
    • MIDI serial data (I)
  • Outputs:
    • Gate outputs (x8)
    • MIDI Thru (T).

Further details

The mtr/8 is a MIDI to Gate/Trigger module which maps consecutive note-on/off messages to each of its 8 outputs in a similar manner to the mcc/4. The received note is the 'base' note and is mapped to output 0, the next note to output 1 etc. — for example, if the mtr/8 receives Middle C (C-3, or note 60) the outputs will map from Middle-C to the G above (G-3, note 67).

The UI is based on a single front-panel button:

  • Short press (less than 4 seconds): 'Listen' mode: The next MIDI Mote-on received will be the new 'base' Note. If no Note-on is received, then the module will revert to the last-stored base note. Whilst in 'listen' mode, the MIDI LED will light — the LED extinguishes when listen mode is no longer active (either due to timeout, or because a Note-on message has been received)
  • Long Press (longer than 4 seconds): Writes the current base note to eeprom, so that the next time the module is powered on the current base note is reloaded. Whilst the button is pressed, the LED will light — when the write to eeprom has completed, the LED will extinguish.

Shipping policy

Unfortunately it is not possible to link product stock levels with those from the regular wonkystuff shop, so there might be times when items are not currently in stock. In these cases I will contact you to update the expected shipping times (which will need to include the manufacturing time of course).

This is not my main job, so shipping has to fit around evenings and weekends — please feel free to contact me if you think things are taking too long!

Here are some extras that might be useful for your project!

Welcome to wonkystuff!
We make modules for the AE Modular system by Tangible Waves, and this is our storefront for EU customers (Non-EU customers, can use the shop over at https://wonkystuff.net/)
Please keep order totals under €150 as that way VAT is calculated for you. Exceeding this limit will mean that import duty/VAT will be charged to the recipient by the local postal service. If your order exceeds €150, then please consider splitting it or ordering direct from wonkystuff (which reduces our costs!)
Thank You!
