Original Design

This is a USB-C power conversion kit for the Nintendo GameCube, allowing the console to run from modern USB-C PD or QC chargers instead of the original AC power brick.

The kit replaces the internal power input assembly and integrates a USB-C port directly into the console. No external DC adapters or custom cables required.

Installation requires

  • Gamebit screwdriver (to open the console)
  • PH1 Phillips screwdriver
  • Basic DIY confidence is recommended.

Core Functionality

The mod negotiates directly with compatible USB-C chargers to request 12V output, which is then delivered to the GameCube’s internal power system.

Minimum power requirement:

  • 12V
  • 2.5A (minimum recommended)

Features

  • Automatic negotiation with:

    • USB-C Power Delivery (PD)
    • Qualcomm Quick Charge (QC)
  • Compatible with:

    • DOL-001 models, all regional variants
    • DOL-101 models, all regional variants
  • High-quality pushbutton power switch

  • Power-Good LED indicator (confirms successful PD/QC negotiation)

  • Custom 3D-printed USB-C rear cover and matching power button

  • Additional 3-pin PC fan header (Molex KK 254) for fan upgrade mods

  • Overvoltage protection:

    • Automatic cutoff if input exceeds ~15.5V
  • Online installation guide accessible via QR code

Charger Compatibility (Important)

Not all reputable USB-C chargers support 12V output. Many high-quality chargers only provide 5V, 9V, 15V, and 20V profiles — and some omit 12V entirely.

Before purchasing, verify that your charger:

  • Explicitly supports 12V output
  • Can supply at least 2.5A at 12V

Examples confirmed working:

Examples confirmed NOT compatible:

  • Nintendo Switch USB-C charger
  • Several Anker USB-C chargers (varies by model)

Always check the technical specifications of your exact charger model.

Power Button Notes

The kit includes a custom 3D-printed power button.

The original GameCube power button has a longer travel distance and is not mechanically compatible with the upgraded internal pushbutton. To complete the installation:

  • Use the supplied 3D-printed button (recommended), or

  • Modify the original button by filing it down to greater travel distance

This mod modernizes the GameCube’s power system with clean USB-C integration while maintaining internal safety protections and upgrade flexibility.

Shipping policy

All orders ship from New Zealand with tracking, usually within 2 business days (excluding weekends and NZ public holidays). You'll receive tracking details by email once your order is on its way.

In order to comply with customs requirements, all items regardless of size are sent as a tracked parcel. There is no extra shipping charge for multiple items in the same order.

==============================================================

🇪🇺 European Union customers

EU VAT is collected at checkout by Lectronz on our behalf using their IOSS registration. You should not need to pay anything extra on arrival.

⚠️ EU orders are limited to €140 (excluding shipping and tax) to keep your order under the €150 IOSS threshold. Orders above this amount lose IOSS protection and would be subject to border VAT collection plus a customs handling fee charged by your local courier — almost always slower and more expensive than placing two smaller orders. If you need a larger quantity, please split your order or message us first.

Note: Starting July 1, 2026, the EU is introducing a flat €3 customs duty per item on parcels under €150. This policy will be updated closer to that date.

==============================================================

🇺🇸 United States customers

US import tariffs are collected during checkout via Lectronz's Prepaid Duty (PDDP) system. You should not need to pay anything extra on arrival — the price you pay at checkout is the final price.

This covers the 10% Section 122 import surcharge currently in effect on goods entering the US (introduced February 24, 2026). US import rules have been changing rapidly since the de minimis exemption ended in August 2025, and prepaying duties through Lectronz is the cleanest way to ensure your parcel clears customs without surprise fees at your door.

==============================================================

🇬🇧 United Kingdom customers

No VAT is collected at checkout for UK orders, and Retrology Repair is not UK VAT-registered.

⚠️ UK orders are limited to approximately £135 (excluding shipping) to stay under the UK low-value consignment threshold. Orders kept under this value should not attract UK VAT or import duties on arrival. Orders above £135 would be assessed for VAT (20%) and potential customs duties by HMRC on import, plus a courier handling fee, so please keep your order under this limit. If you need a larger quantity, please split your order or message us first.

==============================================================

🇦🇺 Australia customers

Orders under AUD $1,000 enter Australia free of GST and duty. No additional fees on arrival. Australian orders typically arrive within 5–10 business days.

==============================================================

🇳🇿 New Zealand customers

Prices for New Zealand customers include 15% GST. Retrology Repair is GST-registered and a tax invoice will be provided with your order. No additional fees on delivery — domestic orders typically arrive within 2–4 business days.

==============================================================

🇨🇦 Canada customers

Standard tracked post via NZ Post / international courier. Canadian buyers may be charged 5% GST plus a courier brokerage/handling fee on delivery. These charges are set by the Canada Border Services Agency and the courier, and are outside our control. Estimated delivery is 7–15 business days.

🌏 Rest of the world

We ship to most countries worldwide. Estimated delivery is 10–25 business days depending on destination and customs processing. Customers in countries not listed above may be subject to import duties, VAT/GST, or customs handling fees on arrival, and these are the buyer's responsibility. If you'd like an estimate before ordering, please message us.

Lost, delayed, or damaged parcels

International shipping can be slow and unpredictable. If your parcel hasn't arrived within a reasonable window, please get in touch and we'll investigate with the carrier. For parcels declared lost, we'll send a replacement or issue a refund depending on your preference and stock availability.

If your item arrives damaged, please contact us within 7 days of delivery with photos of the packaging and item so we can sort it out.

Incorrect addresses

Please double-check your shipping address at checkout. Re-shipping costs for parcels returned due to incorrect addresses are the buyer's responsibility.

A note on policy changes

International shipping rules — especially US tariffs and EU/UK VAT thresholds — are changing rapidly in 2025–2026. All information above is subject to change without notice. If you have questions about shipping to your country before ordering, please message us through Lectronz and we'll get back to you within 1–2 business days.
