What is it?

This product is a small 128x64 pixels black and white OLED display ready to be connected to the SAO expansion port of your event badges. It contains the SSD1306 OLED itself as well as an identification EEPROM with 32KB of storage space and two LEDs (a red and a blue one) connected to the GPIO pins of the SAO connector.

The Simple Add-On connector consists of six pins, power and 3.3v, I2C (data & clock) and two general purpose pins. The SSD1306 Add-On can be connected to your projects by just applying power and sending commands to the display via I2C. Optionally you can connect the two GPIO pins to your project to add a red and a blue LED to your project's output possibilities.

Why did you make it?

I love creating event badges, the past years the people from Badge.team as well as many other badge teams have incorporated a Simple Add-On connector on their event badges. This add-on allows you to expand the features of your badges as well as other projects.

What makes it special?

This Simple Add-On contains an identification EEPROM. This memory chip allows badges to automatically detect and make use of the Add-On. See the Badge.Team website for more information.
