This listing is for a set (PCB + Plates)

Please note that you will need additional components to finish the keyboard/macropad.

This a pre-series prototype, using a classic ProMicro controller. This was later changed to use a different controller, and other changes made, making the prototype PCB & plates physically incompatible with the next version.

This is supplied as-is, either as blank PCB or with the components needed to finish it. The kit is fully functional (one set was built as part of testing/prototyping) and a very rudimentary QMK firmware exist to start from. Other than that this is not a polished/finished product, but with a little effort making the firmware complete and tweaking it, this can make a very low cost numpad for the right builder. Buyer beware Not suitable for first time builders, not supplied with a finished firmware. Please ask questions before purchase

Build your own Numpad/macropad!

UnOrthoDox is a simple to build, hotswap capable 17/20-key Numpad with two optional Rotary Encoders, Per-Key RGB and a minimal footprint matching in format to many 60% keyboards.

It's designed with a minimalistic Sandwich style case in the same FR4 fibreglass material as the PCB (available in black & white) as part of the kit making it cheap & easy to build without sacrificing functionality or desing, as the case showcases the RGB nicely. And you can easily take the same PCB and design a more elaborate case for it be it 3D printed or machined, as an upgrade down the line. (I will add designs for 3D printed cases along the line).

A minimal number of components make the kit relatively cheap, and despite being surface mount components, it's larger sized components make it easy to build for anyone that has some experience soldering before hand, and it should make an excellent first SMD build to practice on.

Sandwich style Case plates

The UnOrthoDox comes with a full sandwich style case, available in either Black or White, fitting both variants of the PCB. The plate material (1.6mm thick FR4 fiberglass) has a relatively stiff and bouncy feel, and the open sides allow the Per-Key RGB to shine out creating an ambient glow. A sandwich style case means a full free floating PCB, only held captive by the switches.

  • Reversible top plate supporting 4x5 or 17-key Numpad layout
  • Full back plate with printed build instructions.

Build Guide

The rear plate has most of the needed build instructions printed on the silkscreen, and you can likely build the entire keyboard from these! If you however need more detailed instructions, please refer to the GitHub link to Documentation below.

If ever the instructions in the build guide and the instructions on the silkscreen are different, the version on your actual PCB is what are in fact relevant for your version!
