The main purpose of this board is to simulate the 75ohm termination for analog video signals. This allows for analysing video signals from most common analog video connectors with an oscilloscope. From there it can be determined what signals are present and if the signals conform to standard specifications.

Useful for people with retro consoles and computers who want to make sure their cables or the signals being output from their device can safely be connected to a display. Also by removing the 75ohm termination jumpers, it is easy to route those signals to a breadboard and back. This can assist with people designing their own cables as you can easily insert components into the signal chain and observe the results.

The board features space to connect your oscilloscope ground clips, and loops to connect oscilloscope probes. Anyone who has tried probing video signals while they are connected to a display will know how difficult it can be, especially if the cable itself contains passive components. And probing analog video signals at the source without termination is a pointless exercise.

All the most common signals can be easily checked ie. RGB, YPbPr, luma, chroma, composite, sync, scart blanking and scart function switching. There is also separate audio connections and audio ground (these are not terminated however as it makes little difference for line level audio and isn't the main focus of this design).

As most of the video and audio signals are shared between the connectors, only one input should be used at a time. However this does allow the board to function as a scart to RCA (or S-Video) adaptor by removing the 75ohm terminaton jumpers. Keep in mind this isn't the main purpose of this board and is not intended to substitute a purpose built scart to RCA adaptor, but it may get you out of a tricky situation where you only have a scart cable and your display has RCA or BNC connectors.

This board does not convert video signals. Anything input on the scart or RCA connectors is all you will get out. For example if your scart cable carries RGB and composite for sync, you will only see RGB and composite on the RCA connectors. It will not magically create S-Video from RGB for example.

All boards are hand assembled and tested before shipping. As these are hand soldered, flux residue is included with every board at no additional charge ;-)
