This is a power adapter that is recommended to be used with the Louder and Amped series of ESP32 and Raspberry Pi-based devices, that have USB-PD capability. Originally, this power adapter is a quick charge phone charger, but after testing and comparing different models, I stopped at this one as it produces no hearable noise or hissing, good power figures, and stable work with D-class amps. After using it for more than 2 years, I can recommend it as a solid choice for audio.
12 V × 1.5 A = 18 W
18 W × 0.8 ≈ 14.4 W total
This 14.4 W is the total continuous power available for all channels combined.
V_RMS = sqrt(P × R)
I = sqrt(P / R)
Where:
P = power per speaker (W)R = speaker impedance (Ω)If only one speaker is connected, it can use the full ~14.4 W:
| Impedance | Power | VRMS | Current |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 Ω | 14.4 W | ~5.4 V | ~2.7 A |
| 4 Ω | 14.4 W | ~7.6 V | ~1.9 A |
| 6 Ω | 14.4 W | ~9.3 V | ~1.5 A |
| 8 Ω | 14.4 W | ~10.7 V | ~1.3 A |
With two speakers, power splits across channels:
| Impedance | Power (per ch) | VRMS | Current (per ch) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 Ω | 7.2 W | ~3.8 V | ~1.9 A |
| 4 Ω | 7.2 W | ~5.4 V | ~1.3 A |
| 6 Ω | 7.2 W | ~6.6 V | ~1.1 A |
| 8 Ω | 7.2 W | ~7.6 V | ~0.95 A |
