L86 GPS

This is a GPS module.

The L86 is a very powerful GPS module. This PCB has a clean ground plane around the L86 for maximum performance.

It then has an RJ45 connector for normal patch leads offering...

RS485 data, A+B

  • 1+2 as PPS signal from L86
  • 3+6 as Rx serial data to L86
  • 7+8 as Tx serial data from L86

In addition, the 4+5 is power, 5V to 28V DC.

This module has a CR2032 battyery holder, but this is diode linked to local 3.3V power regulator making it optional (slower start up with no CR2032 battery)

A resin printed 3D case is included (not waterproof).

An optional USB-C to RS485 adapter is available, or you can use readily available RS485 USB adapters. The adapter also has jack for 12V supply for long cable runs - the GPS module needs at least 4V at the far end.
